An Analogue Wedding, Entirely on Film
In an age of instant previews, unlimited frames, and digital reassurance, I’m opening up a one-off creative project that intentionally slows everything down. In 2026, I’m inviting one couple to have their entire wedding day photographed exclusively on analogue film. No digital cameras, no previews, just a considered, film-led approach to storytelling.
Why I’m Creating This Project
Film photography has always been at the heart of my work. While I regularly incorporate film during portrait sessions and on the dance floor, this project is about going deeper.
By removing digital entirely, I want to focus on documenting the in-between moments of a wedding day on film. The pauses, the quiet anticipation, the fleeting glances that often go unnoticed but hold the most emotional weight.
Film demands presence. Every frame is intentional. Every moment matters. This project allows me to work more instinctively and to tell a wedding story in its most honest form.
What an Analogue Wedding Actually Means
It’s important to clearly explain what this experience involves.
This is not digital photography in any form. Analogue film comes with natural limitations, and those limitations are part of what makes it special.
Each roll of film contains 36 exposures. Across the wedding day, I expect to shoot approximately 40 rolls of film, meaning around 1,440 frames will be exposed in total.
Not every frame will be usable. Some images may be imperfect, unexpected, or quietly subtle. There will be no previews, no same-day images, and no guarantees on capturing specific moments.
This approach asks for trust in both the process and the outcome.
Timing, Availability, and Suitability
This project will take place in 2026, and timing is sensitive.
My diary is already busy, so flexibility around the wedding date is essential. The chosen date will need to work for both you and my existing commitments.
Because of the limitations of film and the high stakes of a wedding day, a city wedding, intimate celebration, or smaller gathering may be particularly well suited to this project. These environments allow for a more fluid, observational approach that works beautifully with analogue photography.
That said, I’m open to considering all types of weddings. This guidance is simply about setting expectations and ensuring the right conditions for the work to be done thoughtfully and with care.
Investment
This is a one-off creative project and is offered at a significantly reduced rate compared to my usual wedding collections.
Because of the cost of film, processing, and the time involved, the fee will primarily cover film stock, professional development and scanning, and a portion of my time dedicated to this creative project.
This is not a budget offering. It is a considered collaboration for couples who value artistry, intention, and trust.
A Note on Lead Photography
For this project, I would be the sole and lead professional still photographer for the wedding day.
This analogue wedding experience is not designed to sit alongside another photographer providing digital or analogue still photography. The intention is clarity, focus, and creative cohesion, rather than overlapping coverage or blurred roles.
I regularly and happily work alongside professional wedding videographers, and that collaboration is always welcomed. Casual, non-obstructive photographs taken by guests on mobile phones are, of course, part of any wedding day and are absolutely fine.
This project is best suited to couples who are comfortable placing full trust in one photographic approach, and who are excited by the idea of a single, unified visual narrative created entirely on film.
Is This the Right Fit for You?
This experience isn’t for everyone, and that’s intentional.
It’s best suited to couples who value authenticity over perfection, emotion over volume, and who feel excited by the slower pace and unpredictability of analogue film.
If you’re open-minded, flexible with your date, and drawn to honest storytelling, this project may be for you.
