How to Choose the Right Wedding Vendors (A Checklist for Couples)

Your wedding day cannot be redone. There is no reshoot, no second attempt, no version two. Whatever unfolds on that day is what you carry forward, so who you invite in to help hold it deserves real thought.

It is easy to choose based on aesthetics alone. A beautiful feed, a certain look, a style that catches your eye. But a portfolio is only the surface.

What matters more is what sits underneath it. Can this person handle pressure. Can they read a room, a timeline, a moment of emotion, without losing their calm.

Your Wedding Day Cannot Be Redone

There is no reshoot, no second attempt, no version two. Whatever unfolds on that day is what you carry forward, so who you invite in to help hold it deserves real thought.

Why This Changes How You Should Choose

Because the stakes are permanent, the decision deserves more than a quick scroll through a feed. It deserves questions, conversation, and a sense of trust before you book.

Why Aesthetics Alone Are Not Enough

It is easy to choose based on aesthetics alone. A beautiful feed, a certain look, a style that catches your eye. But a portfolio is only the surface. What matters more is what sits underneath it. Can this person handle pressure. Can they read a room, a timeline, a moment of emotion, without losing their calm. Because your day will have chaos somewhere in it, and you need people around you who bring steadiness into it, not more of it.

What Experience Actually Buys You

That steadiness usually comes from experience. And experience is rarely the cheapest option. It should not be. Years spent learning how to move through real weddings, real families, real unpredictability, that has value. It costs more because it is worth more.

The Cost of Choosing on Price Alone

When you choose based on price alone, for something this important, you are not just saving money. You are taking on risk with something that cannot be undone. And sometimes that risk becomes a disappointment that lingers long after the day is over. No couple should have to carry that.

The Invisible Factor: How Well Your Vendors Work Together

There is something couples rarely think to ask about, and that is how well your vendors work together. A wedding day is not one person's job, it is a team of people moving around each other, often under pressure, often in tight timelines.

What Happens When a Team Already Knows Each Other

When a planner, a photographer, a florist, a videographer already know how to move with each other, the day flows effortlessly.

A Checklist for Choosing Your Wedding Vendors

Before you book, it helps to slow down and ask the right questions. Here is what I encourage every couple to look for.

  • Does their portfolio reflect real weddings, not just curated highlights

  • If it's a photographer or videographer, ask to see full galleries or films, not just highlight reels

  • Ask them directly how they handle the unexpected, weather, timing, emotion, pressure

  • Do they ask about you, your story, your day, or only about the booking

  • Trust your gut. What was your first impression. Did you enjoy their presence on a call

  • For roles like your planner, photographer, or videographer, remember they will be with you for most of the day, often more than your guests. It matters that you genuinely vibe together

  • Are their reviews and past client experiences consistent, not just polished

  • Do they have enough experience for a wedding like yours, in style, size, and scale

  • Is their pricing reflective of real expertise, not just the lowest number you found

Access to My Trusted Vendor List

This is part of why I keep a little black book of vendors I trust. People I have worked alongside, watched under pressure, and seen deliver again and again. Every couple who comes to me is welcome to it. Not because I need to control your day, but because I want you surrounded by people who already know how to hold it well, together.

Choose With Care. Your Day Deserves a Team That Has Earned Your Trust.

Look past the aesthetic. Ask the harder questions. The people you choose will shape how your day feels, not just how it looks. If you are planning your wedding and would like access to my trusted vendor list, or want to talk through your day with someone who has walked this path before, reach out. I would love to help you begin with the right people around you.

The veil guide: finding the one that's meant for you

The veil is one of the most transformative pieces a bride will ever wear. It shifts the energy of an entire look, changes how light falls, and often becomes the element that makes a photograph feel like a painting. But with so many lengths, fabrics, and styles available, knowing where to start can feel overwhelming. This guide breaks down the four styles I see most often on my couples, and how to think about choosing the one that truly belongs to you.
